In August 2013, representatives from four villages in the Delta region of Myanmar joined a training programme in facilitating participatory video. This unique capacity-building programme was the first of its kind in Myanmar. It was designed to provide trainees with all the technical and facilitation skills necessary to undertake participatory video processes, within their communities.
The objectives of the programme were to train facilitation teams across the delta region in participatory video as a community development and empowerment tool. More specifically, the focus was placed on initiating processes to enable horizontal sharing between communities, create spaces for participatory decision-making, and provide communication tools for local advocacy within a rights-based framework.
