InsightShare provides tailored consultancy services to organisations wishing to harness Participatory Media as a community engagement, accountability and people-led development tool.

Our services

For 25 years, we have witnessed the impact of top-down policies being imposed on people, failing to resonate with the local needs of community groups. That is why our heart lies in self-representation and active participation. Our participatory video (PV) approach is more than just filmmaking; it’s about giving people the tools and confidence to shape their narratives and share them with confidence. These collective stories catalyse change, spark conversations and inspire action.

We have wholeheartedly delivered over 500 projects, working with countless communities across the globe to leverage participatory media for advocacy, research, and to monitor and evaluate their progress.

At InsightShare we know that video and participation tools are powerful ways to connect people despite distance. We have years of experience in offering distance training and remote mentoring. Explore some of our previous work below, and get in touch for more information.

Are you looking to strengthen feedback loops and enhance learning?

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning

We are pioneers of a range of participatory approaches to monitoring and evaluation of projects and programmes, including the Participatory Video and the Most Significant Change (PVMSC) technique.

InsightShare's international team is available to support you and the communities you work with to learn from your existing projects and help you identify areas for improvement and development. Likewise, we can train your staff in story-based approaches to get feedback from the community groups you are working with.

Do you need facilitators to deliver a project for you?

Project Delivery

We co-design and deliver Participatory Media processes with your local partner and community group. We help you reach out beyond formal workshops to involve the most marginalised and rarely heard groups and bring together different stakeholders to address critical problems in new ways.

From community needs assessments to advocacy and Rights-Based Approaches, our facilitators have vast experience leading Participatory Media projects in many different contexts and countries.

Check out this toolkit by the World Health Organization (WHO), which shows how participatory video can be used to ensure meaningful engagement of older people and contribute to the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021–2030).

How can your stakeholders help you design more appropriate and sustainable programmes?

Design Thinking

Design Thinking is a creative (human centered) approach to problem solving which starts with the people you are designing for and ends with radical new solutions. These are then developed and tested in the target community and with other key stakeholders. Through bringing together Participatory Video and Design Thinking, InsightShare and the d.school Paris have developed a unique social innovation process which puts the intended beneficiaries in the driving seat.

We can work directly with your stakeholders or train your teams to adopt an 'innovation culture'. By engaging your wider ecosystem in the design process, we reduce the risk of failure and ensure better and more adapted programme design with strong local support.
