Dominic has conducted PV trainings and projects for Insight in Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia and New York. He has also run and assisted in several of InsightShare's UK workshops. His original film training was part of his MA in Visual Anthropology at the University of Manchester, where he made a participatory documentary drama with street children in Malawi. He then worked briefly with Video Volunteers, co-directing two films for them in India, before joining Insight in 2004.
After completing an internship and a training course, he set up PV projects with GOAL working with HIV+ community groups in Malawi and Uganda. As well as running PV projects and trainings, he also works as an independent filmmaker, and has recently been assisting the International Institute for Environment and Development to produce films about forestry issues. He loves being a part of the Insight team and appreciates its deep commitment to participatory ethics, as well as its constant striving for excellence to justify its place as a world leader in Participatory Video practice.
